A coastal area in the Philippines suffered severe flash floods after a strong typhoon, overwhelming municipal drainage systems and leading to fast-rising street water.Floodwater quickly seeped into low-lying commercial basements and underground parking lots.
The Emergency Flood Barrier Plan
1.Primary Street Diversion Line
Standard woven wire mesh baskets were aligned across low-lying street intersections. These units were filled with local quarry stone to create a continuous Gabion flood protection wall that safely absorbed the hydraulic impact of the oncoming water.
2.Basement and Entrance Cordon
Smaller modular baskets were stacked tightly at the entrances of subterranean parking structures. This step formed a heavy, stable seal that completely blocked rising surface water from pouring down into the utility rooms.
